Introduction to the Type-C port data cable for Android phones

The previous Android phones have a Micro USB interface. Every time you plug in the data cable for charging or transferring data, you have to take a look at the phone jack, and then check the shape of the Micro USB plug before inserting it, otherwise it will not fit in and the jack will be easily damaged.

Until later, the charging socket of the mobile phone host was replaced with a Tyep-C interface, and the problem was solved. The Tyep-C interface can be used regardless of the front and back, and it can be used any way, which perfectly realizes the blind insertion.

The biggest highlight of Tyep-C interface lies in its slim design, faster data transmission speed and powerful power transmission (theoretically up to 100W).

The biggest feature of Type-c interface is that it supports double-sided insertion, which solves the problem of inaccurate USB insertion. It is very convenient to insert the front and back.

Technical features and advantages of Tyep-c interface:

  • Theoretically, the maximum data transfer speed can reach 10GBit/sec, which meets the USB 3.1 standard.
  • The size of the Type-c interface socket is 8.3mm wide and 2.5mm thick, which is very slim.
  • Support both front and back can be inserted, no longer divide the front and back, no need to care about the direction.

At present, most mobile phones using Type-C interface are basically Android mid-range and high-end mobile phones.

Although the Type-C interface has outstanding performance, the theoretical data transmission speed can reach 10GBit/sec, but basically most Android phones are compatible with Type-C interface.

The actual use of Type-C still stays at USB 2.0 or USB3.0. the only advantage for those that it does not distinguish between the front and the back, and it is convenient to use.

Let’s take a look at the pin definition of the Type-C interface through below picture:

Let’s look at the corresponding relationship between the pins of the Type-C interface and the pins of USB 3.0 and USB 2.0.

So far, it seems that most of the random Type-C cables of mobile phones are USB 2.0, that is, only the Type-C interface is used for both front and back, and its high-speed data transmission characteristics are not used at all.

From the figure above, you can also see that GND (power supply negative, ground) has four pins, and Vbus (power supply positive) also has four pins, so there are a total of 8 wires, so the Type-c interface can provide 100W power supply capacity.

Many Android phones on the market are no longer equipped with 3.5mm audio headphone jack. You need to buy a Type-c to audio cable separately. You can actually make one by yourself.

See the picture below for the Type-c interface and the left and right channels Correspond to the pins of the microphone.
